about

Like many artists, songwriting comes in surges for me. I hadn't really written a traditional song with words that I thought much of, or would have considered putting out into the world, for about 6 or 7 years before this one. The impetus just wasn't there. Luckily, my muse revived something that had been sleeping in me for too long and the floodgates broke open.

"Burned Into My Brain" was the first of about 40 songs that I wrote during an incredibly productive two month period after my long, songless winter. Frequently writing 2 or 3 songs in one sitting. Somewhere around the mid-20 mark I began to realize I might be able to put together an album of this material (or two, or three) if I could stop writing and start recording. "The First Apocalypse" is the result.

lyrics

I’d almost forgot you.
left you in the dust, never see you again.
I’d almost forgot you.
Left you two years ago
Never come back, no, you’re never
gonna come back

No you’re not burned into my brain.
Now you are burned into my brain.
Never come back again.

I’d almost lost you.
Left you in the past, never see you again.
I’d almost lost you.
Left you ten years ago
Never come back, no, you’re never
gonna come back

No you’re not burned into my brain,
Now you are burned into my brain.
Never come back again.

This is a whistle, this is how I whistle.

No you’re not burned into my brain.
Now you are burned into my brain.
Never come back again.

Never come back again.
